Best International Award
Awarded to the best non-UK act who is judged to have made the biggest impact in the last 12 months.
Judging Global talent is something that will never be easy, this award is one of the most open categories, and one of the reasons for that is down the music fans interpretation of overseas acts and the fields in which they work. For example, a Bollywood fan will may be influenced by films they have seen, and the memories with that will then influence who people vote for.
Honey Singh
Love him or hate him, what you can’t do is ignore him, a successful album release, making noise in Bollywood, crowds waiting in anticipation to see him live, and a stack of hits! That is what you call a good year! Honey Singh has made a huge impact in 2011/12. Will the masses vote for him ? Time will tell, but not many have impacted the scene as he has in the last year!!
Satinder Sartaj
If you was one of the thousands that went to see Sartaj Live, then that will no doubt sway how you vote and the vote is something personal based on your experience, the release of the Sartaj’s live album alongside his Europe and UK Tours have meant that Sartaj never left us asking for more in 2011/12, but, are Sartaj fans likely to vote ?
Prove us wrong!
Rahat Fateh Ali Kahn
As we mentioned earlier, “Best International Award” is based on personal experiences and many fans of RFAK, will vote with certain film songs in mind, RFAK’s live concerts were truly epic this year, but many fans did leave wondering why he didn’t perform some of his older songs, as the shows seemed very Bollywood influenced and it is those new fans that may see RFAK win this award. RFAK could win this award any year, as he is truly a legend, and will always will be a front-runner!
Arminder Gill
Whether you are a Bollywood, Urban or Bhangra fan, the Album “Judaa” would have made it to your musical collection, one the best albums of the year, Arminder Gill has firmly planted his feet in the mindset of music fans and he doesn’t look like leaving yet.
Arminder Gill is a unique talent, his partnership with Zeus seems like a match made in heaven, can anyone beat Arminder Gill to this award ? Honey Singh and Arminder Gill are the only acts not to have toured the UK in 2011/12, that may go against them both in the final voting!
Manmohan Waris
If you love live music, then the Punjabi Virsa Tour would have been high on your list of “Must Go” events of the last year. The fact that the tour has just finished, will mean it’s fresh in people’s minds and that will influence voters, Waris, very much like RFAK, is a legend who could be nominated in any year and would be a justified winner in any year.
How close the awards voting process is to the end of the Punjabi Virsa tour will influence people’s voting, and may well see Mr Waaris walk away with the award.
